Demetrious Johnson retained his flyweight title against John Dodson, and heavyweight Andrei Arlovski edged Frank Mir in the UFC 191 co-main event.

The whole point of UFC 191: Johnson vs. Dodson was crowning the best flyweight MMA fighter of our era. Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson beat John Dodson convincingly in January 2013, but he didn't manage to silence the doubters who thought Dodson still represented the biggest threat to Johnson's title.
Tonight Mighty Mouse silenced the doubters and staked a claim as not only the best flyweight of his era but also one of the best martial artists of the decade. Johnson utterly dominated Dodson on the feet and overcame a surprising early Dodson wrestling advantage.
Johnson took the decision on all three judges cards (50-45, 49-46x2), although two judges awarded Dodson a round.
By the later rounds Johnson had virtually shut down Dodson's high powered offense and forced Dodson into a defensive shell. Dodson still showed signs of life with some hard punches and surprising take down attempts, but Johnson dominated the action and vastly outpointed Dodson in the later rounds.
Andrei Arlovski took home a unanimous decision win over fellow former UFC heavyweight champ Frank Mir. The two battled it out on the feet for most of the fight, and when Mir did get Arlovski on the ground, he couldn't keep him there. Arlovski never really staggered Mir, but he managed to clearly outpoint the submission specialist on the feet.
Anthony "Rumble" Johnson really needed a win against Jimi Manuwa, and he got it with a brutal second round knock out. Manuwa looked outsized and was utterly outclassed for the entirety of the fight. Johnson hurt him immediately in the first round, then slammed Manuwa to the ground where they remained for much of the round. If Manuwa felt he had some momentum going because Johnson slowed during the first round, he was quickly and violently disabused of that notion. Johnson landed a body kick followed by a perfect chin shot that knocked Manuwa out cold.
Corey Anderson struggled with Jan Blachowicz in the first round before utterly dominating the Polish fighter for the final two rounds. Anderson took Blachowicz down and pounded him for virtually all of rounds 2 and 3 en route to a unanimous decision win with some of the most one-sided score cards you'll ever see in MMA: 30-25 twice and 29-26.
Paige VanZant got off to a slow start against a game but overmatched Alex Chambers, but managed to submit her in the third round. After eating some hard counters in the first, VanZant opened it up in the second round and utterly dominated Chambers for the remainder of the bout. In the third VanZant hurt Chambers bad standing before taking her down and running through a number of sub attempts before landing the fatal arm bar.

Ross Pearson and Paul Felder fought a strategic bout that went to decision. Both got ample chances to show off their stand-up skills, but neither managed anything devastating. Pearson took Felder down and dominated position on the ground, and that probably made the difference.
John Lineker battered Francisco Rivera senseless in a wild one-round brawl before dropping to his back for the guillotine submission win. Rivera tried to give Lineker a rude welcome to the 135-pound division but trying to trade wild winging punches with Lineker was a very bad idea.
Raquel Pennington celebrated her 27th birthday in style with a second round submission win over Jessica Andrade. It was sweet revenge for Pennington as she lost to Andrade at UFC 171.
Tiago Trator managed to avoid most of Clay Collard's wild punches and spinning attacks en route to a split decision win in the Fox Sports 1 preliminary opener.
The Fight Pass portion of the card saw veteran Joe Riggs take home a disqualification win after an illegal upkick by Ron Stallings rendered him unable to continue, and Joaquim Silva took home a split decision over Nazareno Malegarie in his UFC debut.
